Gong Xi Fa Cai

Gong Xi Fa Cai!! Happy New Year!! My Chinese New Year day was one of the best days since the last time I said that lol and I didnt even make up this holiday!!I think I say that after every crazy theme day. But sometimes, I guess each day seems better than the next so I cant help saying it! Anyway, . the Chinese believe in 2 basic beliefs and all the holidays and the way they live are based on these 2 ideas

1) Yin -Yang Everything is about balance. Yangs the positive. Yin is negative. For every mountain theres a valley. For every up a down. A fixed star is a yang. A moving star is a yin. Personally, I totally believe how important balance is in a persons life. Thats one of the main beliefs I live my own life by. I think its probably one of the main reasons why Im able to do what I do. I try to live in balance. I work. I balance it with play. This journal is about my work, which anyone who reads this, knows I love.

2) Ancestors-The second belief is all about ancestors. Nobody ever really dies. The souls of our ancestors go up to dwell with the G-ds on the stars in heaven. If we take care of our elders, while they're here on earth, then when they are in up in heaven, they'll take care of us. Chinese people never do anything major without first consulting the ancestors. One of my hobbies is geneology. Im very into ancestors.

Hey, ya think Im part Chinese? Well, I was today! lol

We had a great Chinese dessert party. I played Chinese folk music I got from the library. While they were having lunch in the dining room, I made tons of that cheap Ramaan oriental flavor noodles

that you just add boiling water and flavoring to and served them with fortune cookies and green tea after lunch in the recreation room. I called it a "Chinese dessert party".Put red table cloths from the dollar store on the tables and gave outchopsticks and gave chopstick lessons.I set out fortune cookies.
I really like how the room looked
The mood was all set as they came in after lunch.
Of course, we did the Chinese horoscopes. This is the year 4705 by the way, which is the year of the pig. There are actually 60 years in a cycle. Even though most people know what sign they are, there is also an element involved. Either wood, metal, earth, fire or water. Myself, Im an Earth Dog. It was too funny as I told people they were pigs and dogs.etcCheck out what you are here http://www.tuvy.com/entertainment/chinese_horoscope.htm..

Chinese New Year is one of the most intersting holidays I know of. they burn a symbolic kitchen G-d,
which will go and hopefully, report sweet things to their ancestors about the family during the year.I taught them all kinds of interesting stuff When I got my nails done tonight, my manicurist, who is from China, was so impressed with how much I knew about the holiday. Shes so sweet. Every year, she gets me the beautiful deorations like you can see in the pictures.
I always say I know a little bit about a lot of things and alot about nothing lol I have all this info on everything in my filing cabinet and I whip out the chinese New Year folder and give a lesson. Im good at looking at information and relaying the info to everyone without sounding like Im reading. I sound like I really know what Im talking about ,,but I dont. lol Thats why I say "no questions from the audience please "lol Not sure how I do it, but they think I know absolutely everything about everything. I think its too funny. Oh, I also had someone come in to do a tai-chi class. Tai Chi is an ancient form of relaxing martial art exercise.First she demonstrated,
then gave class This woman Suzanne come in every month to do it., its one of the most beneficial programs I have Anyway, Im gonna end this entry with a couple of funny Confuscious quotes, which of course , he didnt really write.......

MAn with one hand in pocket not necessarily jingling change!

Virginity like bubble- one prick all gone!!

Man with hand in pocket is having a ball!

Oh boy,, they were hysterical over these. Just cause someone gets old, doesn't mean they lose their sense of humor!! Keep laughing!!

PS Did you know that there are about 50,000symbols in Chinese? No letters, no alphabet, just symbols.

Happy Chinese New Year!!
